FAQ

What is the HPR?
Are you willing to run miles over crazy obstacles, through hillbilly country, carrying greased pigs, for no good reason but to have fun? The hillbilly Porckchop Roundup extreme obstacle and running event will test your body and mind! This slippery mud filled challenge is the best in these here hills! Are you up for the challenge?

What do I need to bring to the HPR?
Your photo ID
A change of clothes and shoes and probably a towel.

What should I wear?
Costumes are preferred but not required.
Wear clothes that you know will get dirty and muddy, and bring some shoes to run in.

How do I win?
The first through third place man and woman per running event across the finish line with the best time and/or the most pigs win a prize.

Do I have to run all the obstacles?
You can go around the obstacles, but to be classified a true hillbilly you have to complete the whole course. You can’t win a medal if you don't complete all the obstacles.

If you can't complete an obstacle there will be a price to pay. 10 pushups.

What do I get for my $$ ?
A CRAZY MUD FILLED DAY,
REFRESHMENTS

SWAG BAG INCLUDED WITH EACH ENTRY, ITEMS IN BAGS DIFFER FOR EACH EVENT.

hillbilly t-shirt,

Can I wear a costume?
Being that we are new age hillbillies, we welcome all costumes!
come out and wear the craziest costume you want, As long as your costume or running shoes don't bother or harm other participants.

I'm outta shape, can I still participate?
Being a Hillbilly is not about being in shape. It’s about your competitive spirit, and that unique ability to enjoy getting crazy and muddy with your friends and family.

What if it rains?
We Hope it does! We want it to rain, makes our event and people even more muddy, and fun.

How long is the course?
The HPR course is a slippery 5K and 10K, on hillbilly terrain, over hillbilly obstacles, and through our hillbilly waterin holes. some of our hillbilly events have a 1 mile family mud run and a 10k  mud run event.

What do the pigs have to do with the race?
Not only is the HPR an insane obstacle course, there are special awards for the hillbillies that bring in the most pigs. The slippery muddy rubber pigs will be sunnin all throughout the course. The first man, woman, or team that bring the most pigs across the finish line get the awards.

Can I bring something to carry the pigs?
Heck no, you can't! It's more fun trying to hold on to them just the way they are. Sorry, no bags, straps, rubber bands, backpacks, or anything else that you can make to carry the pigs with. You can use your socks, shorts, shirts, or even your hands to carry them though.

Can we have teams?
We want teams! There will be an award for the fastest team. To win you have to have the best team time and/or the team with the most pigs across the finish line.

When do teams run?
Teams will run in their own team competition waves. The amount of teams per wave depends on how many teams enter the competition. Please check the wave time schedule for the team wave times.

Team Rules.
All team members must be over 13 years of age.
A minimum of 5 runners per team, and a max of 10.
The team with the most pigs and or the fastest time across the finish line wins an award.
In order to register for the team wave, please register individually, but put your team name in the box provided on the registration form.

How many obstacles do you have?
There are around 16 man made and natural

obstacles depending on the event.

And they all change depending on the terrain.

Are the obstacles hard?
Some of the obstacles are very challenging, considering you are also running a few miles. The obstacles range from beginner to advanced, but if you feel like you can’t do an obstacle or its too dangerous, you can always hang your head, do your Log Squats, and go around.
